On Saturday 12 May we have our first youth races of the season at Hetton. The second is on 26 May. The format will be:

09:45 Sign-on Opens
10:15 1 lap time trial (short circuit)
10:45 C/D/E race (10 mins short circuit)
11:00 C, D & E Presentations
11:10 A/B race (30 mins big circuit)
11:50 A & B presentations

Both the time trial and races can be used for BC points (1st,2nd,3rd).

Entry is £5 for both the CDE and AB races. We’ll need gear check, time trial and race catchers. Any willing parents & spectators should contact Ben for details.

Just to remind you all that this Saturday 28 April there will be no coaching session at Hetton Lyons Country Park.

The majority of coaches, committee and supporting parents will be at Barrasford with some of the club at the C2C training camp. Due to a last minute cancellation we have a space for an older male to attend. If you are between 14 - 18 and male please contact Ben ASAP.

On Saturday 24th March there is the last installment of the fanstastic Highfield Kitchen Spring Shield.
The racing starts @ 12:00 (so get there for 11:30 - for sign on and gear check) with a 1km Time Trial, followed by a C/D/E race and A/B race.
Prizes galore, sweepstake for the senior riders, cakes and commentary by Marcus (always a delight).

On Sunday there is the Cleveland Wheelers Race from 10:00

Don't worry if you haven't raced before, the atmosphere is very friendly and there are lots of faces you'll recognise to help you out.

As trailed previously we are undertaking the C2C challenge on the weekend of 8/9/10 June. The challenge comes in two flavours: a 3-day, starting on the Friday and 2-day, starting on the Saturday. The 2-day'ers essentially combine the friday and saturday routes. Both challenges come together on the Saturday night.

The cost will be £90 - for the 3-day and £50 for the 2-day, this includes evening meal, bed and breakfast for each night.

Next Saturday there are some social rides taking place. These are instead of our usual coached sessions. There will be a number of rides of various distance 4 miles - 15 miles (each will take about 1 - 1.5 hours). All rides will leave and finish at the Hetton Lyons Park (our usual saturday morning place). Each ride will be led by one of our coaches.

This weeks session is all about climbing - technical climbs that is. These are a common feature of cyclo-cross and mountain bike races. We're going to have a look at the 3 basic types:
- Rhythm
- Power
- Technical

Special bonus points if anyone can descibe the features of each.
