Hetton Coaching Session - Applied Race Skills 4th July 2009

This week's session is designed to enable riders to use most of the things they have been practising this season.  Please bring a bottle with you, preferably full - because it may well be hot.  I am hoping that if we have sufficient coaches and helpers, a separate "Go-Ride" session will be available for our younger riders.

Call out to parents who can help by riding with groups and supporting the coaching - many thanks in advance.

Road Ride 27th june 2009

This Saturday there is no session at Hetton as the circuit has been booked by another group. However, there is a ride on roads around Northumberland for those capable of riding 20-30 miles. The road ride will be split into two group, both starting from the Sports Centre car park in Ponteland, and meeting up for a cafe stop at Capheaton. This is a club ride, not a coached session, and will rely upon riding support from parents.

Coaching session 20th June 2009

Coaching continues this Saturday with some road race tactics. We will recap the important skills of riding at the correct cadence and riding in a group before moving on to riding in the wind, taking bottles and recovering back to the group after a puncture.

Riders Needed for the UK School Games in September!

The  North East Region is looking to send a team of young riders to the UK school games in September. Cycling-wise it will be track races. The youngsters need to born in 1993 or earlier. (14 and older) Ideally, there would be 3 girls and 4 boys. Girls are particularly needed.

I don't know if there is a selection criteria. Get in touch with Dan Smith who will be looking after the team Dan Smith (daniel.smith@velo29.com).

Coaching session 13th June 2009

Coaching continues this week with a session on acceleration and sprinting. We will be concentrating on leg speed and tactics for most of the session, but there will be an opportunity for a burn-up at the end as well!
