Club ride meeting at Meadowfield Sports Centre car park for 10 am.  A road ride and a separate off-road ride has been arranged. Off-road is on railway paths.

The track at Hetton is not available on this date and there will be no coaching. 

Both rides will start at 10 am on Saturday morning from the Sports Centre
car park (please arrive at 9.30 to ensure a prompt start - we will be ready to leave at 10 am - if you turn up at 10.05, we will
be gone) and finish between 13.00 and 13.30. Please bring a rainjacket, some
food for a picnic and a drink and some food for the rides, some money just in case and spare
tube/pump, in case of punctures.

This is are club rides, not a coached session, and will rely upon
riding support from parents.  So far we have Scott and Sarfraz signed up.  

Details:(see map for summary)

• We intend to have a picnic at the Malton Picnic Area near Lanchester. Both rides and all groups will meet their around 11.30am with luck. 
• Jan Hodgson will provide a support vehicle to take the food and drink and we will have a bike rack for emergencies. 
• Road ride will depart from the car park at Meadowfield Sports Centre and follow the route in blue on the main map. There may be variations if we are ahead or behind time.  This is fairly hilly (like Northumberland).  We should cover 15-20 miles to the picnic site - there may be a group doing a longer loop.  After our picnic, the ride will return to Meadowfield. 
• Off-road ride will depart from Meadowfield and join the Sustrans Bishop - Consett Cycle Path.  The ride will head North East.  Youngest riders will do 7.5 miles to Malton Picnic Area, older riders can do an extra 3.5 miles to Hurbuck Farm before a re-trace to Malton.  
• Please be aware that there is a tricky descent at Relly Mill Junction ending at a narrow footbridge over the River Browney.  Shortly after there is a steep climb back out of the valley.  This is where there used to be a very big wooden trestle viaduct over the valley for the railway.  The main East Coast line is nearby - watch for the express trains whistling by at Relly Mill!  This climb/descent is reversed on the way home.  This is the only hard part of the ride. 

Riders must be accompanied in a ratio of one adult
to two children for safety reasons, so this is a great opportunity for parents
to get their bikes out for a social ride either on the road or off-road.
