Manchester Velodrome Results

A brilliant time was had by all riders on Sunday in Manchester and a good turnout of club colours and white socks!

Attached are the results from the individual time trials and team time trial.

Coaching 22nd January 2011

This week's session is about using speed control (braking) so that you can carry the maximum speed downhill and through obstacles like corners and chicanes.

It would be a good idea to check that your brakes are properly adjusted before the session - the break lever should pull about one third of the way before the brake blocks bite on the rim. This gives better modulation of braking. If the brake lever hits the bars when pulled, then you won't have maximum braking power and some adjustment is needed.

Coaching session 25th April

Coaching continues this week with a look at climbing and descending. When to stand and when to sit when climbing and how to get down that hill safely and quickly. More advanced riders will be doing all of this in groups and thinking about race positioning as well as the basic techniques.

Little Emzys Blog

Hi Everyone

This is my blog about last weekend. It was good to get back on our road bikes after that long cross season. Some of the bigger guys went out and did a road session while we did through and off and got used to our bikes again.

Getting Ready for Spring ! by Joe Curran

If getting really dirty, wet, cold and covered in mud isn’t your thing, you would probably prefer the road training Hetton Hawks have to offer. All of the training is on a closed, asphalt surfaced circuit in Hetton Lyons Country Park.

If you want to come along and learn loads of new skills, turn up in the spring in the main car park (see website closer to the time for exact details of when the road training begins).
